Radisson Blu Mammy Yoko Hotel, on April 21, received the African Excellence Award 2015 by the Crisis Communication in Cape Town, South Africa.
Receiving the award on behalf of the hotel, the General Manager Nuno Neves said he was very happy for the recognition they have received for keeping the hotel in high standard in Sierra Leone during the Ebola crisis.
“I am proud that our effort has again been recognised in Africa for making sure that the standard required of all Radisson Blu was maintained during the Ebola crisis as it was a very difficult time to operate under such condition,” he said.
He said with many high quality hotels all over the continent, Radisson Blu was the most successful. He said the award is a very big honour to the management and staff of the hotel.
He said against all the odds they stood their ground to make sure the quality of the hotel was never jeopardized, and that they kept the hotel safe during the entire 18 months of the Ebola crisis. He added that during this period many high profile delegates including United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki Moon, Tony Blair, and top European Union delegates visited the country and they were confident to stay in Radisson Blu.
In Asia, it was held in Singapore, in Europe, Stockholm, USA in New York and in South America in Rio de Janeiro.
“I was very happy that Radisson Blu Mammy Yoko is helping to advertise Sierra Leone as many people were asking me where Sierra Leone is, and so there is a Radisson Blu hotel in Sierra Leone. I was excited to tell them about Sierra Leone and the prospect of having a beautiful holiday with quality beaches, good weather and friendly people,” Neves said.
“It was an opportunity to tell the continent and the entire world that Sierra Leone is ready for business and investors.”
The General Manager said there were over 100 speakers at the ceremony and Radisson Blu Mammy Yoko Sierra Leone was among such elites in the continent, which he said shows that their ‘Yes I Can’ attitude has paid much dividend to the Rezidor Group which also is a winner because of Radisson Blu Mammy Yoko Hotel. He said they will continue to keep the standard of the hotel.
Mr Neves congratulated the government and people for celebrating 55 years of Independence, and expressed hope that the country will continue in its development path.
